Unity 4.0 Beta 9

Features
Cursor API:
Cursor API supports both software and hardware cursors.
Support for hardware cursors on the following platforms:
PC - Standalone and Webplayer.
Mac - Standalone and Webplayer.
Linux -Standalone.
Flash.
Configure the default cursor in your projects Player Settings
License: New activation system:
Continuous license and content updates.
Unity Account login for certain license types.
Survey's for certain license types.
Internet connection required when starting Unity without a valid license (known issue).
Pasting in the license key does not work on OSX (known issue).
Improvements


Editor: Scene View now shows the current View Tool (Move, Orbit, Zoom, FPS) as the cursor to reinforce what's happening.
Flash : Implemented support for batching. No runtime scripting support for batching yet.
Flash : Injection of swf tag for 3rd party profiler.

Changes

Editor: Temporary meshes created by GUI texts are excluded from vertex buffer count/size statistics in game view.
iOS: PVRTC compressor upgraded to imgtec 3.0@2144429.
iOS: Gyro and other sensors implementation moved to the trampoline. Provides more possibilities for customizations.
iOS: Now iOS sensors follow screen orientation. No more complicated code for axis remapping! This can be switched off via Input.compensateSensors. Requires code refactoring!
Android: Removed X<->Y axis mismatch for Android input. Now out of the box it should match iOS input. Requires code refactoring!

Fixes


Windows: Fixed issue where batchmode players and webplayers could be limited only to run on cpu0 (also coming to 3.5.6 soon)
Profiler: Made the profiler skip frames instead of freezing up if editor lacks behind player.
Editor: Changed order of calculations during model import to improve normal calculation.
Editor: EditorUtility.CopySerialized now works correctly for components.
UV generation is now more deterministic between platforms since it is performed prior to scaling of vertices.
Terrain: Fixed error messages when painting terrain grass with negative sizes, and when adding some tree models.
Graphics: Improved deferred lighting depth buffer sharing workaround for some OpenGL systems. Mostly, much faster now on some Linux GPUs/drivers.
iOS: Fixed www.uploadProgress support on iOS.
iOS: Fixed loading indicator position.
iOS: Small GPU profiling improvement.
Flash : Implemented delegate comparison.
Flash : Implemented Double.TryParse
Flash : Input.inputString now works.
Flash : No more compiler crashes on incorrect swf dimensions.
Flash : Key repeat works.
Flash : Fixed NewInstance for Enum value types
Flash : Fixed getter/setter generation for System.Array
Flash : Don't show Development Build watermark in non-dev builds.

The following are changes and fixes to 4.0 features and regressions...

Improvements

Mecanim: Improved Retargeter and IK solver.
Mecanim: Transition condition workflow simplified (define an event by first choosing your parameter, then selecting condition modes and options).
Mecanim: Support negative speed for States and BlendTrees.
Mecanim: Default values for Animator Parameters.
Editor/DX11: Assets -> Create menu has a Compute Shader entry.

Changes

iOS: iOS now prefers Hiragino font over Heiti. Should improve japanese symbols.

Fixes

Mecanim : Fixed crash when deleting sub-statemachine.
Mecanim : Fixed previewing of multiple transitions.
Mecanim : Fixed FootIK in BlendTree previewer.
Mecanim : Fixed Orbiting direction in previewer.
Editor : Fixed UI text not showing up on Windows, if Windows are not in the C:\ drive.
Editor: Fixed scenario when upgrading a project from older than Unity 3.5 to 4.0 could cause scene references to models to get lost.
Importing: Only assets without the @ sign are reimported when adding a new @ sign based file in the same folder. (Like it was before 3.5)
GUI: Fixed leak in OnGUI.
WebPlayer: Added support for menu separators and generally improved the menu initialization
DX11: Fixed "shutdown event" not being sent to native code plugins when using DirectX 11.
Editor: Fixed light probe editing regressions.
Graphics: Fixed Screen.resolutions reporting garbage values.
Graphics: Fixed crash in StaticBatchingUtility.Combine when input meshes have read/write disabled.
Image Effects: Made fixes to new DepthOfField, MotionBlur effects.
Editor: Building Windows WebPlayer puts files in a chosen directory. (Like in Mac)
iOS: Made various orientation fixes.
iOS: Fixed compatibility with Xcode 4.2 (and earlier).
